Suggested HF Exposure Kit:

Before beginning work involving HF, it is highly recommended that an exposure kit be available on-site and in close proximity to the person using HF. The exposure kit must contain the following items:

  1. A tube of Calgonate.
Please note: The gel must be inspected prior to each use to ensure it has not expired. If the tube of Calgonate has already been opened, discard it and purchase a new one. No work with HF should be done with an expired tube of Calgonate.

  2. 2 pairs of Neoprene or Nitrile (minimum 22 mil) gloves.

  3. 1 heavy-duty polyethylene bag to be used for disposal of items contaminated by HF.

  4. 1 "HF Contaminated Waste" label.

  5. Copy of these procedures and MSDS to take to the emergency room.

  6. Calcium Carbonate (antacid tablets).
